In the last few years, liquid rules at airports have changed, making travelling through security easier and quicker for passengers at Manchester Airport.
Liquids in carry-on luggage have to be checked and they used to have to be taken out of your bag, put in a sealed clear plastic bag and put in a tray to go through the scanners.
However, you can cut out the faff with the new security scanners that have been introduced at airports across the UK and some further afield.
If you’re not familiar with the rules due to not travelling since they changed or you’d like a reminder of how it works, here’s what you need to know.
What are the liquid rules for Manchester Airport?
Manchester Airport passengers can pack liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on luggage if they are in containers that are less than 100ml.
These liquids don’t need to be taken out of your bag, but anything over 100ml cannot go through security.
The airport advises passengers to put their liquids in their hold luggage due to the security restrictions.

How big can hand luggage bags be at Manchester Airport?
To see the acceptable size of bags and small suitcases suitable for hand luggage, you’ll need to check your airline’s requirements because they can differ.
Your airline will be able to confirm the size and weight rules for cabin baggage and the airport “strongly” recommends checking this before you fly.
