Drivers are warned of likely delays today due to upcoming roadworks.

In Bolton, Ashworth Lane will be affected by multi-way signals until July 31, covering the area between Eleanor Street and Prestbury Road on Ashworth Lane.

The works will see footway resurfacing and carriageway patching at the junctions between the two streets on the lane.

Bolton Council has informed the public that high traffic disruption is expected, but access to properties will be maintained, although there may be times when this is restricted.

Ashworth Lane becomes significantly quieter and experiences a major drop in traffic during the school holidays.

Because it serves as a primary access route for several local schools, the notorious weekday school run congestion completely disappears when terms end.

The works are scheduled to last one week, subject to weather conditions.

Residents will be notified by the contractor.
