Smoke from a fire in Horwich this afternoon could be smelt as far away as Bolton town centre.
These dramatic pictures of the fire in Horwich have been sent to us by Jean Fleming.
The fire was caused when a pile of wood went up in flames at a recycling plant in Horwich.
Firefighters are tackling the blaze at Armstrongs Environmental, in Chorley New Road, which started at 1.30pm.
A plume of smoke can be seen for miles as it wafts across the town.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
