BOLTON’S boxing Olympic medallist has offered to give tips to the town’s new sporting hero on dealing with his new found fame.

Amir Khan, who won a silver medal in the Athens Olympics four years ago, has seen his life turn around since then and has become a wealthy national celebrity.

He says he is delighted that another Boltonian has earned the rare honour of Olympic success.

Amir said: “Jason will now be an icon in Bolton for the rest of his life and I hope to meet him soon to pass on my congratulations and also to give him advice on how his life will change.

“I am sure all of Jason’s family are proud of what he has achieved, and furthermore he richly deserves financial success for all his hard work over the last four years — more so for putting Bolton on the map again."

Jason, aged 20, from Farnworth is taking a well earned rest for a few weeks before getting back into training and looking forward to a civic reception in his home town and a national celebration in London in October.
