THE body of a teenager who was found hanged while on holiday in Greece was due to be flown home this morning.
David Bakewell, aged 17, was with his girlfriend and her family on the island of Rhodes when the tragedy happened.
His family are now waiting for the coroner to complete the necessary paperwork before his funeral arrangements can be made.
David’s dad, Richard Bakewell, of Turton Heights, Bradshaw, said he did not think he would ever understand what had happened.
He said: “There is no understanding how it can turn from a bright, bubbly lad enjoying his holiday to what’s happened the next morning.
“David wasn’t someone who sat around moping — he was going to join the army and he had his whole life ahead of him.”
David was discovered in the bedroom of his self-catering apartment by his girlfriend, Dulcie Piotrowski, from Halliwell.
His parents said the couple had argued during a night out at the resort of Faliraki.
