THOUSANDS of people braved the cold and wind for Bolton’s Big Christmas Lights Switch On.
The rain held off as the crowds filled Victoria Square for the annual Christmas lights event.
Bolton TV star Vernon Kay transformed the town centre when he flicked the switch to turn on the festive lights at 5.30pm.
His appearance marked the end of a spectacular build up, with teenage dance sensation George Sampson stealing the show.
