Staff were left terrified after an armed raid at a store in Gorton.

At about 8.25pm on December 16, four men burst into B&M Home Stores on Hyde Road.

Armed with knives they terrorised staff, at one point holding a knife to the throat of a teenage staff member and threatening to cut his ear off.

The four left with a substantial amount of cash and ran across a car park outside, where they got into a blue BMW and drove off towards Sport City.

All four were dressed in hooded tops, face coverings and two of the offenders wearing distinctive hi - visibility jackets.

The company of the store is offering a cash reward for anyone who provides information that leads to the charge and conviction of the offenders.

Detectives are also keen to speak to two people who were believed to be in the car park just before to the robbery.

Detective Constable Andrew Langlands said: "The people in the car park may well have been a couple on their way to the nearby Showcase Cinema, and we believe they would have seen the offenders.

"We are asking these people to come forward and talk to police, as they could have vital information.

"You may not have realised what you saw, but moments later these thugs were terrifying their victims and showed that they were willing to use violence to get what they wanted.

"Though nobody was hurt in this incident, the victims have been left badly shaken by the ordeal.

"I would urge anyone with information to come forward. It is clear these are dangerous individuals who require bringing to justice before they have a chance to strike again. I would also urge local businesses to be especially vigilant during the festive period."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4335 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
