A MISCHIEVOUS puppy was rescued by firefighters after getting trapped in the mechanism of a reclining sofa.
Rooney — an eight-week old pug and shih-tzu cross — sneaked behind the sofa and wriggled inside while his owner, Michaela Wain, was sitting on it.
But the pup became caught in the metal bars which stabilise the sofa when it is in the reclining position, and one of the poles was trapping its neck.
Miss Wain, aged 25, said: “I didn’t realise he had got inside the couch until he started yelping. I looked underneath and could see him trapped among the bars. But as I tried to release him by pushing the foot rest down a metal bar started pressing on his neck. He was so upset and I was panicking.”
