SAM Allardyce has criticised Phil Gartside’s proposals for a new two-tier Premier League.
The ex-Wanderers manager says the Whites’ chairman’s idea would be bad for the game.
Allardyce, who worked under Gartside for almost eight years, said the English leagues were already the best-run.
He said: “From what I have heard I’m not in favour of it. I believe we should keep all football as active and positive as we possibly can.
“We have to consider what might happen to Scottish football if Celtic and Rangers came in. I’m in favour of keeping football going in as many places as it can. The opportunity to get in (to the Premier League) would be so limited that some owners of clubs might consider it to be too much of a risk to keep the clubs going.”
