ENGLAND cricket selector Geoff Miller has stepped in at the 11th hour to save the day!

Geoff is taking the place or Alex Wotherspoon in the guest spot at the Awards, after Apprentice star Alex found he had work commitments.

Geoff, who is fondly known as Dusty, revealed that he has some close Bolton connections — his father was born in the town.

Miller junior, however, was born in Derbyshire but still has a strong Northern humour which is bound to hit the right note with the audience.

As a player he took part in 34 test matches and captained Derbyshire from 1979 to 1981. Other impressive statistics show that Geoff scored 14,000 runs and took more than 1,000 wickets.

By virtue of the sport he was in and the life he led, Geoff has a wealth of brilliant anecdotes and stories about himself and colleagues which will provide some smiles at the awards.

And who knows? He might spill the beans on who will be selected for the next Test!
