Incom, Trafford Park

TWO Bolton businessmen who embraced a distinct “it’s good to talk” philosophy certainly have something to shout about!

David Hughes and Jason Kilvert’s thriving Incom Business Systems company is celebrating its 20th anniversary against an enviable background of continued growth, turnover, profit and customer base.

Incom, in Trafford Park, is a nationwide supplier, installer and maintainer for a range of a communication solutions.

Following a management buy-out in 2004, the company has blossomed from a small North West supplier to a UK-wide supplier to many blue chip and Government customers.

Incom was set up in 1989 to help companies communicate more effectively and to reduce associated costs.

Mr Hughes said: “Being one of the first companies to implement ISDN lines on to customer equipment in the early 1990s, we have consistently performed at the leading edge of our industry over the past two decades.

“We hold BSI (British Standards Institution) certification and recently we have been one of the few companies to gain the new BSI standard certificate ISO9000:2008.”

Mr Hughes and Mr Kilvert, who have worked for Incom for more than 15 years, encourage staff development and promotion as they themselves started out on the bottom rung as trainees.

The management team also includes Boltonians Debra Kilvert, installations manager, Andy Pollitt, IT manager, Grant Counsell, sales manager, Paul Lowe, technical manager, and Anita Birks, who is accounts manager.

Client satisfaction is foremost. Mr Hughes said: “After each installation, we complete a survey with the customer on our performance and ask how they think we could improve.

“We have an open-plan office, enabling us to assist staff and monitor customer conversations. This year we have launched a new website offering one access point to our services, including online bill management.”
