IN just 15 years, Imperial Office Furniture has seen its annual turnover rise from £50,000 to £6.5 million last year.

The successful manufacturer of office furniture started life with only five employees and now has an 89-strong workforce.

From acquiring its own premises to investing in the latest machinery, Imperial Office Furniture has striven to keep ahead of the competition.

The company, located in Quebec Street, Bolton, also has a 20,000 sq ft warehouse in Bamber Bridge, Preston.

Imperial Office Furniture Ltd was established in 1993 when it began manufacturing a range of office desking and furniture.

To keep ahead of competition Imperial Office Furniture has spent more than £50,000 on R&D this year, creating a new range of modern boardroom and conference furniture, and modular desking.

Imperial Office Furniture manufactures desking, filing and storage furniture in addition to screens and accessories.

In total the company has more than 820 items with 12,000 variations.

Managing director Jeremy Bennett said: “In the last five years, Imperial Office Furniture has seen significant growth in turnover, employment and investment in premises and machinery.

“This certainly provides opportunity for the company to double in size over the next five years.

“Furthermore, the product portfolio is as wide as the competitors who have a turnover of up to £70 million.

“The success and growth of the company is directly due to the drive, passion and commitment of the excellent team behind Imperial Office Furniture.”

A new four-year contract, worth £4 million, to supply universities and colleges in the North East will provide long-term security, while at the same time create further employment opportunities for the town.

A key factor of the growth is service. The company says it can deliver any furniture from the range within 10 working days and has never missed a delivery.
