IT is a big thank you to all our sponsors who have helped to make the Bolton and Bury Business Awards a success and taken them into their fourth year.

The first awards were held in 2006 after The Bolton News was approached to resurrect the event by the Royal Bank of Scotland.

We started with Bolton accountants CLB Coopers, Bury solicitors Clough & Willis and Bolton bakers Warburtons.

From that small group, the number of sponsors grew.

In the second year, Bolton solicitors KBL and Bury telecoms company O2 joined with Business Bolton taking the helm as the main sponsors.

All three have continued their support through to this year.

Our mainstay sponsors were then joined by young entrepreneur and past winner Imran Hakim and his iTeddy business.

This year, we have some more new sponsors in Bury College — Design, Technology and Innovation; Start-Up Business — Business Link Northwest; Wilds accountants of Radcliffe, who had taken over the SME category, and North West Development Agency which is sponsoring the Schools Enterprise category. All the sponsors were judges for their own categories.
