THE trial of a footballer accused of murdering his model ex-girlfriend in Bolton is due to start today.
Ricardo Morrison, aged 21, of no fixed abode, denies stabbing Amy Barnes, aged 19, at her home in Moss Street, Farnworth.
Miss Barnes was attacked on the morning of November 8 last year. She died in hospital a few hours later.
The trial is expected to last three weeks.
Mr Morrison’s mother, Melda Wilks, aged 49, of the West Midlands, will appear at Manchester Crown Court charged with assisting an offender. She denies the charge.
