WANDERERS are prepared to let Danny Shittu leave, with Nottingham Forest heavily tipped to land the centre-half for £2million later this week.
The Nigeria international, who has failed to hold down a regular first team spot since arriving at the club last summer, has slipped further down the pecking order following the arrival of Zat Knight from Aston Villa.
The club are keen to recoup as much of the £2.2m they paid Watford in July 2008 for the 28-year-old, who has struggled to overcome the challenge of Gary Cahill and Andy O’Brien for a place in the side.
Shittu did not feature in last night’s friendly draw at Hearts, after which manager Megson confirmed that although there had been no firm offers for his defender, he would be willing to listen to interested parties.
“There is quite a bit of interest in Danny and we’ll see if it materialises into anything more concrete,” he said.
