DANNY Shittu has turned down a chance to join Sheffield United on loan.
The Nigeria international has been told that he can move elsewhere to find first team football but Gary Megson revealed yesterday that he rejected the opportunity to drop down into the Championship with Kevin Blackwell’s Blades.
“He doesn’t want to go on loan,” said the Wanderers boss. “I asked him if it was Sheffield United he didn’t fancy or just that he didn’t like the fact of going on loan, and it was Sheffield United.”
Ipswich Town were also said to be interested in the 29-year-old centre half, although they have not yet made a firm offer.
Shittu has not figured for Wanderers since the final day of last season against Manchester City, and has been on the winning side only once in 12 appearances since making a £2million move from Watford in August 2008.
