THE manger was swapped for a supermarket when schoolchildren went into the community to perform the nativity story.
Youngsters from St Peter and St Paul’s Primary School in Pilkington Street, Bolton, went to a town centre store yesterday to tell the story of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Staff and customers at Sainsbury’s, in Trinity Street, were treated to performances throughout the morning, with Mary and Joseph placing their son in a crib near the entrance, with the Three Kings, shepherds and their sheep, Angel Gabriel and the guiding star looking on.
The children acted out the story, singing festive songs, while shoppers passed through the tills and staff went about their work.
