A PENSIONER was improving in hospital last night after she was hit by a car on Wigan Road, Westhoughton.
The 85-year-old woman, who was initially believed to be aged 76, was found near Junction 5 of the M61 at 4.20pm on Thursday. She had been hit by a Ford Focus.
She was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital with a fractured shoulder and a serious head injury but has since been transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital.
Police yesterday said that the pensioner, who was in a critical condition, was slowly getting better. Inquiries continue.
