MP Dr Brian Iddon has been appointed an honorary fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers in recognition of his longstanding support of the chemistry-using industries.

Dr Iddon, MP for Bolton South East, studied chemistry and organic chemistry at Hull University and was a chemistry lecturer at Durham and Salford Universities and a visiting lecturer at Liverpool University before elected to Parliament in 1997.

Among his parliamentary roles, he is chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Chemical Industry and the group’s editorial and management board which publishes the quarterly journal Science In Parliament.

Dr Iddon said: “It is always a pleasure to have the recognition of fellow professionals.”
