ORGANISERS of a peaceful protest against Bolton Council’s decision to remove roadside memorials after 30 days are estimating up to 1,000 could take part.
Since The Bolton News printed details of tomorrow’s march, Phillip Macdougall said he has been inundated with emails and phone calls. He said: “We have 650-plus people on the Facebook invite saying they are going to attend and I think it could be as many as 1,000.”
Protesters are meeting in Newport Street at around 12.30pm before making their way towards Victoria Square.
Families of people killed on Bolton’s roads, including relatives of Carla Bate who was killed by a drunk driver in Farnworth in August 2004, will then lay flowers on the Town Hall steps before a two-minute silence is observed at 2pm.
