WIGAN WARRIORS 62, LEIGH CENTURIONS 6: Leigh Centurions' season just goes from bad to worse.

Leigh were hopelessly outclassed as the Warriors returned to form with 11 tries in a one-sided derby contest.

The first league meeting between the sides in 12 years was one-sided from first minute to last, leaving the Centurions pointless after six matches.

Despite their heavy beating Leigh did not throw in the towel but it is becoming increasingly obvious that the Centurions are looking out of their depth at this level.

Only back rower Oli Wilkes came out of this latest hammering with any credit.

Wilkes scored Leigh's only try and looked to be the only player capable of breaking Wigan down.

But it was a thankless job as Leigh failed to control the combination of Shaun O'Loughlin and Dennis Moran and paid the price.

The first Wigan try, after nine minutes, saw the two Wigan players link up for a try from Danny Tickle who kicked the first of nine goals for a 6-0 lead.

The same combination created an opening for Stephen Wild to get Brian Carney in for 10-0 and it was all over for Leigh.

By half time the Warriors were out of sight at 28-0. Brett Dallas fooled Leigh's blindside defence with a simple try at the corner; sub Wayne Godwin plunged in from dummy half and full-back Kris Radlinski scored the first of his three when he finished off a six-man handling move that shredded the defence.

If the first half was poor, the second half was even worse from Leigh's point of view.

A mistake by Ben Cooper allowed O'Loughlin create a try for Radlinski before Leigh's best move of the game saw Jason Kent create a try for Wilkes that Phil Jones improved.

But Wigan were in no mood to let Leigh back in it and they finished strongly.

Godwin created a second try for Dallas; sub Danny Sculthorpe's clever pass got Moran over and in the final 15 minutes as Leigh faded badly Radlinski completed his treble; David Vaealeki crossed and Kevin Brown finished it off as Tickle added his ninth goal of the night.
