KHALILOU Fadiga has asked Sam Allardyce to give him a chance to repay Wanderers for helping get his career back on track.

The Senegal star has put his health problems behind him and is back in the international fold.

Now he wants to play a part in the Premiership as the Whites go all out for a place in Europe.

Fadiga's footballing days appeared to be over in October when, having battled back from a heart condition, he dramatically collapsed on the Reebok pitch in the warm-up before the Carling Cup tie against Spurs.

Within days, a heart specialist in Belgium had installed a defibrillator device under his rib cage and he was back in training in a matter of weeks, making an impressive first team return in the FA Cup win at Ipswich. His only other starts came in the cup ties against Oldham and Fulham but he is keen to play a bigger role.

"Khali's fully fit but he's just infortunate not to make the bench in the last two games," assistant manager, Phil Brown said.

"But he's very positive and, from what we've heard this week, very pleased with the treatment he's received from the club.

"He just wants to repay that."

Fadiga, who made an emotional return for Senegal in a friendly against Cameroon last month, was named along with El-Hadji Diouf in the squad for the World Cup qualifier against Liberia - a game in which he is tipped to reclaim the number 10 shirt he wore with dictinction when he captained Senegal to victory over France on their way to the quarter-finals in Japan and Korea.

Wanderers arer hoping international football will keep both players sharp.

"Dioufy's suspended for three games but there's every chance he won't lose anything in trems of match fitness and, hopefully, Khali is going to be starting the game," Brown added.
