A SCHOOL reborn after being put into special measures will be officially opened next week.
Ladybridge High School, formerly Deane School, will be unveiled by Education Secretary and Bolton West MP Ruth Kelly on Friday, March 11. The Deane School was put into special measures in 2001 when Ofsted inspectors found it was failing to provide an acceptable standard of education and it was subsequently decided to close and reopen it as a different school.
The school closed in May last year and re-opened to pupils in September as Ladybridge.
Pupils were involved in the revamp and even designed the new uniform, which is black and red.
Since reopening the school has enjoyed many successes including receiving International School Status and Sports College Status, which will be made official in September.
Its success is largely down to a unique partnership with Rivington and Blackrod High School, forming the Brook Learning Partnership.
John Baumber, executive principal of the partnership, said: "Both our staff and students have worked exceptionally hard and I thank everyone concerned."
