NATIONAL No Smoking Day will be marked in Bury next Wednesday by the council teaming up with a cancer charity to make more people aware of the dangers of smoking.
Representatives from Cancer Research UK and Bury's free Stop Smoking Service will be on hand to give advice on how to stop smoking in the Millgate shopping centre in Bury town centre from 10am to 4pm.
Last year, 1,018 people received help from Bury's Stop Smoking Service to quit smoking and it is hoped even more smokers will cast their cigarettes aside this year.
Smoking cessation specialist adviser Rachel Zammit said: "We're looking forward to meeting as many people as possible who want to give up smoking."
