IN response to Mr Shaw, a Bolton resident who does not give his address, and to Julie Malone of Anderton, I would like to say that we all know there may be fewer people now shopping in Bolton than previously - this is nothing to do with the shopping facilities but is simply because no-one can park their cars anywhere without fear of a £30 fine being slapped on it for some silly reason.
The changes, if they go ahead, will not lead to Bolton 'booming' again, but to an even greater drop in custom as 58,000 or so more will be staying away!
Sunday is not a day to judge custom by, as it is a "day of rest" for many of us, and a chance to spend time with families.
As for recreational activities, I too would like to see some of these in the town centre - but not inside the Market Hall. I look forward to a time when we once again have a cinema I can get to, a bowling alley, swimming pool, sports facilities for children, skating rink etc. but this is now a distant dream as all we hear about is shopping, building flats or destroying our traditional buildings and streets.
