SHAKERS boss Graham Barrow has ignored calls from a section of angry Shakers supporters for him to resign.

The beleaguered manager, who has found his hands tied by the struggling club's financial restrictions, claims those fans do not fully understand the club's current plight.

Critics of the well-travelled and experienced boss have used the club's internet site noticeboard to make personal and abusive attacks on the manager, but he is adamant when he says: "I have a clear conscience."

"I don't think people are looking at the full picture of the situation the club is in," he declared.

"I'd be honest and walk away now if I thought the criticism was just."

Barrow underlined the fundamental problem he faces when he said: "I haven't got a budget that some non-league teams have, never mind Football League clubs

"I've spoken to plenty of Bury fans who understand the problems we have here and are behind us in getting it right.

"But while I am not against websites, it is an easy way for some people to have a dig, and there is a bit of devil in some of them.

"People are getting angry with me, but I have abided by the strategy that was set out last summer, then all of a sudden, when we went out of the Cup, everything changed.

"Believe me, it is destroying me as much as everyone else, to see us where we are in the league.

"It's just sad that the team we were building has had to be dismantled.

"And no disrespect to the lads still at the club, but it is some of our better players who have been sold and missing in recent weeks."

Another player who could be leaving this week is goalkeeper Andy Marriott.

With Glyn Garner now back close to full fitness, the former Welsh international is unlikely to stay at Gigg on the short-term deal he has been on, and is believed to be the target of one or two Football League clubs.

"The situation with Andy will be resolved in the next few days," explained Barrow.

"He has irons in the fire and is going to keep me posted.

"But Glyn isn't far off being 100 per cent and his attitude is spot-on. He wouldn't let us down if he was to play against Cambridge on Saturday."
