A MAN who shared drugs with a friend on a night out in Blackpool has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Mark McCloskey and his companion Barry Bowen were arrested when police in the resort became suspicious about their behaviour.

McCloskey, aged 29, of Balmoral Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to a charge of supplying five rocks of crack cocaine and possession of heroin and crack cocaine.

Bowen, aged 26, of Brandwood Avenue, Chorlton, Manchester, had pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and cocaine.

Preston Crown Court was told that just after midnight on May 17 last year police noticed a parked vehicle in Cheltenham Road, a one-way street near to Blackpool's sea front. McCloskey was in the driver's seat and Bowen his passenger.

Bowen went into a nearby house for several minutes, then returned to the car. Police blocked the vehicle's path and it stopped in Cleveland Road.

Bags of cocaine, with a street value of £100 were found on the road. McCloskey was found to have bags of cocaine.

Bowen was ordered to carry out 80 hours' community work and pay over £200 costs.
