PUPILS at a Bolton primary school have been going "radio ga ga".

Youngsters at St Osmund's and St Andrew's Primary School in Breightmet have set up their own radio station - with the help of the internet.

They have recorded interviews, songs and shows.

The school has taken advantage of a national scheme called Radiowaves, which sets up web-based radio stations for schools.

Stephen Macdonald, a Year Three teacher and IT co-ordinator, said: "It's a really good IT project, and it can be used by other subject teachers as well."

He said the station was used a lot by the drama teacher. Pupils were acting out interviews with pretend celebrities, as well as carrying out real interviews.

The pupils' most significant scoop was an interview with Bolton Wanderers legend Keith Brannigan.

Mr Macdonald said: "This is something completely new and the youngsters are really enthusiastic and keen."

He believes the school is the first primary school in Bolton to take advantage of the scheme - and he highly recommended it to other schools.
