BUSINESSES in Greater Manchester are among the most effective in Britain at managing their cashflow and are reaping the benefits of increased liquidity, according to a leading UK financier.

Research undertaken by asset-based lending specialist Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance has found that the number of businesses reporting cashflow problems in Greater Manchester are at their lowest level for 12 years.

This close money management is thought to be a major part in the steady economic growth and rising business optimism in the region.

Mike Scowen, regional director of Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance in the North-west, said: "Businesses in Greater Manchester are reporting less cashflow difficulties, which is giving them the confidence and the capital to fuel their expansion."
