WITH reference to the planning application for a phone mast on Barrow Bridge Chimney, I raise my objection to the erection of mobile phone masts on the following grounds.
1. There are four schools and a children's nursery within a few hundred yards of the Barrow Bridge Chimney: namely St Peters Cof E, Johnson Fold, Church Road Primary, Smithills Secondary College, Red House Nursery.
2. At EBM, Chorley Old Road, there is a forest of phone masts on the roof of the building. How many more masts do we need in the area?
3. While the jury is still out regarding the potential health risks, should the council even consider yet more mobile phone masts in the area?
4. If the stone cottages in the village are not allowed to have satellite dishes or UPVC windows, why should the chimney have phone masts attached to it? The chimney is also a listed building.
5. The residents are very concerned about the protection of Barrow Bridge, and would like to think that the council think along the same lines.
