OLDHAM first team coach Tony Philiskirk says his club is under no illusions about what it will take to knock Wanderers out of the FA Cup.

"We will need to be at our best, have a fair amount of luck and it would help if the weather was as bad as it was when we beat Manchester City in the last round,"the former Bolton striker said.

Philiskirk, a hero during three successful seasons at Burnden Park, says Oldham are in a no-lose situation.

Whatever the result, they intend to enjoy the experience and rake in a huge amount of cash from television and gate revenue.

"This is a bonus game for us,"he said.

"Drawing Bolton is fantastic because it gets us on television, sells out the ground and brings in a lot of money."

Victory over City was the biggest giant-killing act of the third round and sparked cup fever in the town.

That 1-0 win, helped by blizzard conditions, was a welcome glory day for the Latics after a difficult couple of years during which they entered into and then emerged from administation.

They re-emerged with a basis of young players, many developed by Philiskirk in his role as head of the club's youth set-up.

Three months ago he was promoted to first team coach and he still has the Midas touch.

Oldham, who warmed up with victories at Peterborough in the league last Saturday and over Tranmere in the LDV Vans Trophy, are comfortably placed in mid-table with the memory of their biggest victory in years still fresh in their minds.

As big an achievement that was, Philliskirk believes it will be an even greater one if they beat Wanderers.

"We are under no illusions,"he said. "Bolton will be tougher than City.

"No disrespect, but they are more direct than City and that will make it harder for us.

"But we will approach the game in a positive way.

"I have to say, though, that although the conditions worked in our favour against City, we were the better team for an hour.

"And we did it with a very young side. Eight of the 11 are 21 or under including the defence which has two 19-year-olds at full back and centre backs who are 20 and 21.

"It will be important that we keep our feet on the ground and make sure it is not a case of after the Lord Mayor's show."

Philliskirk is excited about coming up against the club where he spent his happiest playing days.

"The three years I had at Bolton provided me with the best moments and the happiest time of my career,"he said.

"It was the closest affinity I ever had with a club as a player and I was very sad to leave."
