Ground: Boundary Park.

Nickname: Latics.

Manager: Brian Talbot.

League position: 14th (League One - played 28, won 10, drawn 6, lost 12).

Top scorer: Chris Killen 11 (6 league).

Last time out: LDV Vans Trophy Northern Section Semi-Final Oldham 1 (Eyres), Tranmere 1 (Hall), Oldham won 5-4 on penalties (after extra time).

How they lined up (4-4-2): Pogliacomi; Bruce, Haining, D. Hall (Lomax 84), Griffin; Croft, Kilkenny, Hughes, Eyres (C. Hall 111); Vernon (Eyre 26), Betsy. Subs not used: Treacy, Appleby.

Form guide: Oldham have edged towards safety in League One in recent weeks, and have won three of their last four games in all competitions, including the FA Cup third round triumph over Manchester City. Latics have won seven out of eight cup games this season - they set up an LDV Vans Trophy Area Final meeting with Wrexham in midweek with their only failure coming in a 6-0 Carling Cup home defeat to Spurs. They also have an impressive home record that has seen them score 26 goals on the way to winning nine of their last 11 matches at Boundary Park.

FA Cup so far: Thurrock (away) won 1-0, Leyton Orient (home) won 4-0, Manchester City (home) won 1-0.

Did you know? Oldham's on-loan defender Alex Bruce, who left Blackburn Rovers to join Birmingham on Thursday, is the son of Blues boss Steve Bruce.

Danger man: Kevin Betsy has notched five goals in 21 starts since joining the Latics in September, after having his contract terminated by former club Barnsley. The 6ft 2in striker, who can also play on the right wing, has not quite realised the potential he showed as a youngster at Jean Tigana's Fulham, but his pace will still pose a threat.

Selection update: John Eyre is likely to partner Betsy up front, as third round hero Scott Vernon is out after picking up a thigh strain in midweek, and loan signing Kenny Cooper is only expected to be on the bench. Central defenders Danny Hall (hamstring) and Will Haining (foot) are doubtful, with youngsters Chris Lever and Kelvin Lomax standing by. But keepers Les Pogliacomi and Steve Mildenhall (both ankle) are expected to be fit. Ex-Wanderers Dean Holden (ankle ligaments) and Jermaine Johnson (knee) are absent, as are Rodney Jack (knee) and top scorer Chris Killen (calf).

Referee: Matt Messias (York).

Odds: Oldham 4-1, Wanderers 4-6, Draw 9/4.

Replay date (if necessary): Saturday, February 12 (ko 3pm).
