A MAN from Leigh is among a gang ordered to pay back more than £150,000, following a money laundering and drug trafficking operation worth more than £4 million.
A judge at Manchester Crown Court made a confiscation order against John Hart, of Barker Street, Leigh, who was part of the gang of nine.
Hart, aged 29, was sentenced to eight years in jail last August after pleading guilty to conspiracy to launder the proceeds of drug trafficking.
It followed an investigation by the National Crime Squad into money laundering and the importation and distribution of Class A and B drugs into the UK.
They had used a network of mailboxes to receive packages of drugs posted from overseas, with most of the cash brought in plastic bags or shoeboxes.
