AS you are probably aware, there is an application to convert the premises of Cawdor Street, Farnworth, into a waste transfer station.
l have lived in this area for the past 11 years, and now I am at a loss to see the logic in this scheme when a majority of the properties are benefiting from a major refurbishment programme.
I feel that all the work that has been carried out to revamp this area will all be in vain when this station is open.
I wholeheartedly object to this ill advised idea on the grounds of fire risk, vermin and an increase in traffic.
lt seems to me the residents' wishes of this area are being ignored, and that an ideal location of this proposed site would be on the Raikes Lane industrial estate, away from all housing.
l put to all local officials to think about this plan and ask themselves, would they want it in their area?
