MANY readers will be familiar with the 250ft Barrow Bridge chimney standing close to Moss Bank Park. The chimney is a Grade 2 listed building and is visible from many parts of the town.
However, readers may not be aware that there is a planning application before the Town Council's Environment Department to attach a number of telecoms masts to the chimney. In my view, these masts will deface a proud monument to Bolton's past, and the proposals should be turned aside.
The council have advised local residents in the immediate vicinity of the chimney of the proposals, but if readers have any views on the matter, I invite them to contact the Council's Environment Department.
