I REFER to Cllr Silvester's letter (January 20), "Setting records straight on council tax".
In his reply to O A Davies, he says, "the Regional Assembly is not unrepresentative".
I strongly disagree with that statement and furthermore would suggest that his comments are misleading.
Members on the Regional Assembly are not directly elected to this quango by the ratepayer; it is an unelected, undemocratic organisation taking taxpayers money without representation.
Bolton Council's financial contribution is entirely voluntary and, as Mr O A Davies suggests, should be stopped.
