DANNY Swailes will be re-united with his old Shakers team-mates on Saturday.

The newly-accquired Macclesfield Town defender, who made 175 appearances at Gigg Lane, will relish the challenge of Saturday's game when Macclesfield take on Bury in Coca Cola League Two.

And the 25-year-old defender admitted he will be catching up with old friends in the bar after the game, even if he will not name names.

"We're all planning to go out after the game and catch up, but I'm not telling you who's on the list or where we're going," said Swailes, who spent eight successful seasons in the blue and white of Bury.

"I'm not worried about facing them again. They know the reasons I had to leave the club and hopefully the fans understood too.

"Bury are not in the best of financial positions, and even thought they probably didn't want to let me go, I think they had to with the money that was offered to them."

Macclesfield Town boss Brian Horton parted with a club record £40,000 to bring the Astley Bridge-based stopper to Cheshire, with Northampton Town and Scunthorpe United also lodging bids.

But Swailes' desire to stay in the Bolton area because of his child's impending birth sealed the deal for Macclesfield - and the transfer seems to have transformed the Silkmen's fortunes.

Swailes scored in a 5-0 mauling of Notts County in midweek, and is yet to experience defeat at the Moss Rose.

"It's all going well, especially now I know the way to the ground," he said.

"I knew a few of the lads from playing against them, but they have helped me settle in well. The results have helped too.

"I'm expecting a bit of flack on Saturday, but on the whole I think it will be OK. I'm keeping my fingers crossed."

Andy Marriott makes his final appearance for the Shakers after a loan spell from Colchester United, but has hinted that he would like to extend his stay at Gigg Lane.

With Glyn Garner injured, Bury boss Graham Barrow has only youngster Peter Collinge in reserve.

The Shakers are also discussing the possibility of terminating the contract of midfielder Terry Dunfield - who has missed much of this season through injury.

The former Manchester City man dislocated his kneecap against Leyton Orient earlier this month and recently underwent surgery to correct the problem.
