WHY do some managers persist in playing players out of position?
Sven-Goran Eriksson reckons Shaun Wright Phillips can do a job for England on the left.
No he can't. If Eriksson has had Wright-Phillips watched properly he will have seen the Manchester City winger is devastating on the right and a waste of space on the left.
It would be no surprise if the England manager played Wright-Phillips out of position. The Swede has form for nullifying great English midfielders by playing them on the left.
Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have both suffered by being put out left and Paul Scholes was like a fish out of water when he was stuck out there in England's final game of last year's European Championships against Portugal.
No doubt Eriksson will find out the hard way the same about Wright-Phillips.
