TWO violent carjackings could be linked, say police.

Detectives are investigating two attacks within 20 minutes of each other in Salford and Bury on Tuesday night.

At 6pm, two offenders fled after trying unsuccessfully to get into a Subaru Forester which had stopped on Singleton Road, Salford.

Just 20 minutes later, a 47-year-old man pulled up outside his home on Sandy Lane, Prestwich, and was ordered to get out of the car by a youth.

The victim was then threatened with what has been described as a canister of pepper spray.

Along with another male, the youth got into the car and drove off in the direction of Butterstile Lane as the victim tried to get his possessions out of the boot.

The first offender was a white male, aged between 14 and 16 and of skinny build. He was wearing dark clothing and a black balaclava with the face cut out. The second offender was wearing dark clothing and had his head covered.

Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact Bury Robbery Unit on 0161 856 8093 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
