BOLTON notched up their second win of the new year and completed another double against an improved Blackpool.

The opening moves all came from Bolton although it took a while for the first try to come when Neil Brooks, playing in an unfamiliar role at full back due to an injury to Steven Kriel, finished off a move that he converted to give Bolton a seven point lead.

Bolton struggled to finish off some good phases and settled for kicks at goal. Unfortunately several efforts were not successful and Blackpool recovered with a penalty to close the gap to 7-3 at the break.

Bolton began the second half with more aggression in both attack and defence, which sapped their visitors strength, and the gaps started to appear.

Brooks finished off another good move for his second try as he dived over in the corner and young stand off Tom Keech, having taken over the kicking duties, calmly slotted home the difficult conversion.

Mark Bolton began to dominate proceedings and he scored his first of the day as he constantly asked questions of the visitors defence with his strong running.

With the forwards supplying a wealth of possession and the back row and lock Steven Knibb constantly recycling the ball, further tries were inevitable.

John Keech scored a try which his brother again converted. Mark Bolton grabbed his second and the team their last try of the game.

Bolton travel to Tarleton in the league on Saturday. A coach leaves the clubhouse at 12noon and all spectators are welcome to travel with the team.

The second team's good run came to an end in a low scoring defeat at home to Lymm. The visitors took the lead through a try early in the first half and though Bolton closed the gap through a Mark Burke penalty, the score remained at 7-3 in Lymms favour throughout the game.

The third and fourth team both had difficult away games. The thirds travelled to Preston Grasshoppers for a game they lost 23-3 and Bolton's injury list continues to grow as Spencer Rowbotham left the field with a suspected broken arm.

Hoppers took the lead with two penalties and then furthered their advantage with two tries before Danny Barlow kicked a penalty as Bolton never gave in.

The fourths were heavily beaten by runaway leaders Leigh.
