BOLTON Lads & Girls Club stage their boxing extravaganza at Spa Road, Bolton, on Friday.

The annual event to raise funds for the award winning youth club, starts with a champagne reception and a gourmet dinner before an amateur boxing show when the clubs own boxers pit their wits against opponents from all over Britain.

John Conteh, the former world light heavyweight champion, is the celebrity guest.

The event is organised by Nick Hopkinson of Mark II Ltd and the Dads and Lads Committee, and is the clubs biggest fundraiser of the year. This year there are hopes to raise £50,000, making it one of the top fundraising events in the North West.

Jeremy Glover, Chief Executive of the Lads & Girls Club said: "This is our top fundraiser of the year and we are expecting another great night. A very big thank you goes to the organisers and to all the businesses who support the event."
