A MARRIED doctor from Liverpool remained in custody on suspicion of murder.
The father-of-three walked into a police station on Merseyside on Tuesday.
Shortly afterwards, police officers found the body of a 48-year-old woman at his £200,000 semi-detached home in Thornton, Crosby, in the northern suburbs of Liverpool.
The victim has yet to be identified but a post mortem examination showed she died of asphyxiation. Police have not named the suspect or the victim.
Shocked neighbours said the 53-year-old doctor lived at the house with his wife, a neurologist who works in Walton, Liverpool, and their three daughters.
A nanny, from Sri Lanka, lived at the four-bedroom family home in a downstairs room converted to a bedroom.
Merseyside Police said a man was being held for questioning on suspicion of murder.
