A MADAME who was said to have made almost £200,000 running a brothel will now have to hand over almost half of her profits to the police.
Lesley Harris, aged 42, of Old Swan Close, Egerton, is believed to have become the first person in the country to be forced to give up cash made from organising a vice business.
Harris, a widowed single mother, took more than £190,779 from the brothel in Briercliffe Road, Burnley.
After a proceeds of crime investigation it was found the assets she had available were £83,174.
Mr Recorder F P Davies at Burnley Crown Court gave her until July 24 to pay or face a jail term of 12 months.
Harris admitted assisting managing a brothel. She was given an 80-hour community punishment and 12 months community rehabilitation.
