A NURSERY was warned to shut all its doors and windows after a fire at a next-door construction site produced clouds of toxic smoke.
But Wells House Kindergarten and Nursery School, in Ringley Road, Stoneclough, had already spotted the acrid smoke blowing from a fire at the old Fletcher's paper mill
Manager Michelle Cooke said: "I had already shut all the windows when the fire brigade and the police came round because I saw the smoke at 12.30pm."
