I AND many people I talk to cannot understand how Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell's mind works.
First it was casinos all over the country. Now she and some of her colleagues want pubs and clubs to open all hours. It will cause a lot of mayhem and trouble and more work for the police who are already overworked.
We have a lot in our society who drink to excess, and as regards getting people out of these pubs and clubs at different times, it won't work. So on weekends there will be more drunken yobs causing violence.
Our society is in a bad way. Lots of people don't want it, the police don't want it. So, come on, let's have a bit of common sense and shut these places at a reasonable time. They are open too late now, especially the clubs.
