JAN Rashleigh and Suzanne Budgett completed a Horwich RMI Harriers one-two in the first Red Rose Cross Country fixture of the season in Bury.
Rashleigh won the women's race, with Budgett in second and fellow RMI Harrier Gaynor Higson in 10th to win the ladies' team race.
Colin Rigby was Horwich's first runner home in the men's race, finishing fifth. Hot on his heels were Paul Roby in sixth, and Darren Kay in seventh.
The victorious team of six was completed by Graham Schofield (first man O/45) in 12th, Rob Haworth in 17th and Steve Barlow in 19th.
These three, along with Neil Wrigley, helped to secure the men's team victory in the over-40 category. Tony Hesketh won the over-55s race, coming in 34th overall.
Horwich's best placed junior was Beth Faulkner in the U13 girls' race. She was just 11 seconds behind the winner as she finished third.
Jo Christopher ran well to finish fourth in the U15 boys' race, and he was only nine seconds behind the winner.
