Tyldesley 8 De La Salle 13: TYLDESLEY'S failure to once again to turn pressure in to points cost them a 13-8 defeat by De La Salle.

They fell behind to an early penalty and then a converted try and second penalty gave the visitors 13 first half points, with Tyldesley's only reply coming from an Ashley Worsfold penalty.

In the second-half, Tyldesley took control and Darren Edge scored his third try in as many games, but it proved not to be enough as Tyldesley threw chance after chance away and De La Salle defended well.

On Saturday Broughton Park provide the opposition at St. George's Park in the second round of National Intermediate Cup.

Tyldesley Knights moved up to fifth in the table with a solid 15-5 home win over Rochdale.

Trailing at the interval, Tyldesley ground down the opposition in the second half with some solid forward play allowing centre Brent Broadhurst to score two tries, with Mark Swanton adding a third as Tyldesley made it three wins on the run.

The game ended on a sour note as back row forward Danny Woodward broke his leg in the last minute of the game.

Tyldesley Dragons ran-out 26-0 winners at home to Carnforth 2 with a good all round team performance.
