WIMBLEDON qualifiers Alex Bogdanovich and Emily Webley-Smith will be among the British tennis players in action at a tournament at Bolton Arena next week.

Bogdanovich, who was beaten by eventual champion Roger Federer in the first round of the men's singles at Wimbledon this year, has gone straight into the main draw for the $25,000 Challenger Event.

Belgrade-born Bogdanovich, aged 20, who is ranked 191st in the world, will be up against other players from the top 300 as they compete for a first prize of around £2,400.

Dutchman Raemon Sluiter, 94th in the world, is the top ranked player in the men's draw.

Webley-Smith, 279th in the world, is the top-ranked British player in the Women's $10,000 Event.

The 20-year-old, from Avon, reached the second round of the women's singles at Wimbledon this summer.

She will be joined in the women's draw by fellow British players Sarah Borwell (Durham & Cleveland), Karen Paterson (Scotland), Katie O'Brien (Yorkshire) and Hannah Collin (Surrey).

The qualifying competition starts this Saturday from 10am, with the main tournament starting on Monday at the same time. Play will continue until around 9pm each day. The semi-finals and final of both tournaments will be played on Saturday October 23 and Sunday, October 24, with play starting at 11am. Admission to the event, organised by the LTA, is free.
