IN response to your front page article on Monday night.

It is not only the staff at the Health Centre who have to be worried about what these yobs will do. My friends and I, who are aged between 16 and 19, are scared of walking down the street.

On Monday morning my friend had an egg thrown at him because of the way we dress and the music we listen to.

In an incident last year, a group of 20 of my friends and I were walking down a back street when roughly 60 yobs started throwing bricks and lit fireworks at us.

We tried ringing the police, but they didn't turn up until a friend's mum phoned them. Four of my friends were stuck against a door with about 20 people surrounding them. None of us pressed charges through fear of being beaten up, which has happened in the past.

Please can something be done to stop these "scallies".
