Plymouth v Wigan Athletic: JASON Roberts is winning his battle to play for Wigan at Home Park on Saturday.

Roberts, Wigan's record signing, has returned to training after a successful operation on a finger injury.

The striker is expected to play with the finger in a protective bandage as the Latics aim to consolidate their lead at the top of the Championship table.

But right-back Nicky Eaden is a major doubt to face Plymouth after picking up a hamstring injury in training late last week.

The former Barnsley and Birmingham defender has not trained this week, and is not expected to play.

Eaden joins captain Matt Jackson and midfielders Gary Teale, Per Frandsen and Jason Jarrett on the injury list.

Lee McCullouch and Leighton Baines have both returned from international duty unscathed.

McCulloch made his full Scotland debut on Wednesday night, coming on as a substitute for the last five minutes as they drew 1-1 in Moldova in a World Cup qualifier.

Baines was an unused substitute for the England U21s, who drew 0-0 in Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
